Mt. Chandrabhaga 13 – CB 13 (Chandra Bhaga 13) is a centrally located summit in the Lahaul Massif that provides a spectacular view of the Kunzum Mountain range, Chandra Taal Lake, and the Dhaka Glacier. The CB 13 is one of the most appealing Himalayan great climbing peaks, conjuring thoughts of the undiscovered and remote valley of the Indo-Tibet Road and the tranquility of Chandra Taal Lake.
Organize your climbing equipment once you arrive. Examine your climbing equipment (climbing boots, crampons, and harnesses). After lunch, spend some time touring the town. Optional: You may visit the Hadimba temple, the Vashisht hot water springs, or the Roerich Art Gallery in Naggar while in Manali.
The Atal tunnel connects Manali and Chandratal Lake, which is 110 kilometers away. The travel time will remain between 6 and 8 hours. That’s correct. Even if you avoid crossing Rohtang Pass, it makes very little difference in terms of overall distance and time.
The road to Chandra Taal is in poor condition, all dusty and bumpy, but it is a road. The unpaved road from Batal to Chandra Taal Lake is 14 kilometers long and barely wide enough for a car.
Chandra Taal Lake is located on the Samudra Tapu (sea island) in Spiti Valley. Chandra Taal is one of Himachal’s half-moon lakes because it’s crescent-shaped. Chandra Taal, which means “Moon Lake,” is a popular trekking destination in Himachal Pradesh. The lake is located at a height of 4250 meters above sea level. The Chandra Taal is situated near the Chandra River’s headwaters.
We start early for base camp! The landscape is mostly rocks and dust, with bundles of the last greens you’ll see for a long time. To reach the base camp, we mostly walk past the Chandra River. Crossing the pagal nullah (mad brook) is one of the most difficult aspects of getting to the base camp. We need to cross several streams during the first 2 hours of the morning.
By early evening, you should have arrived at the riverside campsite. The base camp area is entirely of boulders, with fragile mountains on all four sides.
We spent the next seven days establishing Camps I and II and working our way to the summit of Mt. Chandrabhaga 13 – CB 13. And return to Base Camp.
We leave early to cross the pagal nullah (mad brook) before it swells. We take the same path we came here to get back to Batal.
Drive back to Manali. By the evening, you should be in Manali.
