The formidable Himalayan ranges of Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar encircle the Beas Valley. The environment above the tree line, from 2900 to 4500 meters, consists of vast alpine meadows with lofty snow-clad mountains dominating the background. These meadows are home to several sacred mountain lakes, which according to local traditions are the dwelling of the mountain Gods and have a significant religious and cultural value among the local traditional mountain people. Bhrigu Lake trek allows you to explore one of these lakes.
We drive 15 kilometers on the Manali-Rohtang route to the Gulaba meadows. The landscapes of the upper Kullu Valley from this location are breathtaking. The path to the lake heads east and ascends through a deep Deodar forest. We will cross a little brook to reach the lovely Kothi Theli camp spot.
We make our way carefully towards the lake by crossing a highland creek and then continue ascending till we reach a mountain crest that leads to Bhrigu Lake. Then we will descend to our next campground. We will enjoy spectacular views of the Himalayan Mountains from here.
Today comes our long descent to the settlement of Vashisht. The downhill provides an excellent perspective of the beautiful Kullu Valley. We walk through the woods, then past farms to the Vashisht hot spring, where you may take a hot bath before continuing to Manali.
