Uttarakhand, formerly Uttaranchal, is a state located in the northern part of India, its called a land of God because of many holy Hindu temples. Literally North Country or Section in Sanskrit, the name of Uttarakhand finds mention in the early Hindu scriptures as the combined region of Kedarkhand (present day Garhwal) and Manaskhand (present day Kumaon).  

Its offer all the majestic view of the great Himalayas which includes Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nandakot and its known for its natural beauty and wealth of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai, the state was carved out of the Himalayan and adjoining north-western districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Uttarakhand borders Tibet to the north, Nepal to the east, and the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh (of which it formed a part before 2000) in the west and south respectively.Dheradun foothills of the Himalayas, the Doon Valley is nestled between two of India's mightiest rivers - the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west. 

Uttarakhand lies on the southern slopes of the Himalaya range. The highest elevations are between 3,000 and 6,000 metres (9,800 and 19,680 ft)
